REMEMBERING DELORES AS WE KNEW HER IN ’56-’57

DELORES WAS AN OUTSTANDING TWIRLER

DELORES WAS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE MALAKOFF STUDENT COUNCIL

DELORES WAS AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE JOURNALISM CLASS. This is the journalism class of ’56-’57. This is the year the class was made up of Juniors and Seniors. Mrs. Cartlidge was our teacher. The purpose of the class was to publish the Tiger Rag. Back then it was done the hard way. One of Delores’s jobs was to “try” to read my writing (even I couldn’t at times) and type it for use in the Tiger Rag. My byline “Poll Parrot Sez” was something meant to be humorous. Once I was watching Delores trying to read my “hen-scratching” and she was laughing. I did not know if she was laughing at something I had written that was funny or if she was laughing at my spelling and grammar errors. COULD HAVE BEEN BOTH.

Since it wasn’t possible for me to attend her services at the Malakoff Baptist Church I submit this for someone very special. i wanted to share a portion of the memories of Delores that I fondly remember. May God Bless the family, and thank God for sharing Delores with us for a short while.

Thanks, Don. Delores was family & friend to us. My heart is sad that she is no more a part of our earthly life. She has joined our host of family in the Heavenly realm & will be rejoicing eternally. Prayers for her family & all who loved her. As you stated so well, Delores was Special in so many ways. I loved her & live you, too. Your Cuz Peggy

Thank you dear cousin. I had spoken to her on Facebook several years ago and she had said she thought she was getting dementia. A short time later she was in the Malakoff Nursing home. Sorry I never got a chance to visit with her there. On her OB they were thanking the Mabank nursing staff and I assume she moved from Malakoff. Do you know anything. Peggy, please keep us in your prayers. Yesterday Shawn had an psychotic episode and left our our at 2:15 AM. The constables were contacted and they found him and he was taken from there to a facility. As of 9:30 a.m. today (Saturday) we do not know exactly where he is, but we have faith that the Lord is taking care of him.
