By Brother Don Henderson Lamar graduate of 1962
64 years ago, February 11, 1961 we were initiated into Sigma Chi and became Epsilon Chi at the then Lamar Tech, now Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas. It was glorious time which was the culmination of outstanding work by leaders of the local Kappa Phi group, Lamar administration, faculty sponsor, the alumni groups and national Sigma Chi officers. Without true leadership from our local leaders, none of this could have been possible. Sadly, Epsilon Chi and Sigma Chi are no longer on the Lamar campus, but many of us shall forever remember that last week which brought us to becoming Sigma Chis. I invite you to take a look at the following link where you will learn much about our original Epsilon Chi group. Please note that I can no longer change anything that might be wrong on this link because I do not have the same way of accessing the website. Therefore the last update on the old website will give the number of years ago as “60 years ago” when 1961-2025 is actually “64 years ago”
